On March 19, President Noda Yoshihiko received a courtesy visit from five members of the ruling party of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine, the Servant of the People Party, who were visiting Japan, at the party headquarters.
Next Minister of Security Tetsuro Fukuyama, Deputy Director of the International Department Shu Sakurai, Representative Yosuke Suzuki, Representative Takeshi Kozu, Representative Eiji Tai, and Representative Yumiko Abe were also present at the meeting.
At the beginning, President Noda stated, "Japan has supported Ukraine and implemented sanctions against Russia, based on the position that Russian aggression cannot be tolerated under any circumstances." He then stated, "We must continue to understand Ukraine's position and consider what kind of support we can provide."
Representative Halyna Mykhailyuk, co-chair of the Ukraine-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League, expressed her gratitude for Japan's support for Ukraine and emphasized that long-term security is essential for a ceasefire.
