On November 7, Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, President of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. Lee Hyuk, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Japan, at CDP Headquarters.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Jun Azumi, Secretary-General; Mr. Go Shinohara, Next Minister for Defense; and Mr. Kensuke Onishi, Secretary of the Party Diplomatic Promotion Headquarters.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Noda said to Ambassador Lee, “I am very pleased that the recent Japan–ROK summit concluded successfully and that we were able to reaffirm a future-oriented relationship. Going forward as well, we would like to strengthen the close relationship between our two countries in areas such as the economy and security.”

Ambassador Lee expressed expectations that, even amid uncertainty about the direction of Japan’s political situation, the CDP would work to enhance Japan–ROK relations and contribute to the development of Japan’s politics, and achieve significant results.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the international situation, political developments in the Republic of Korea, the issue of relocating the capital, and the situation surrounding North Korea.
